Son Lux imaginé par Arandel

Dans la vie, il y a des pièges. Par exemple, on ne fait pas de remake d’Old Boy, même quand on s’appelle Spike Lee : on fait gaffe quand on touche à quelque chose de fragile, de rare. Voilà pourquoi on serait tentés de dire que remixer les titres de l’album « Lanters » de Son Lux n’était pas forcément une bonne idée. C’était sans compter sur Arandel, secret personnage d’Infiné, artiste original et fin remixeur (comme pour Austra). Les orchestrations et le son majestueux du titre Easy prennent alors des couleurs lo-fi et un ton mélancolique délectables.

Voilà ce qu’Arandel dit à propos de ce remix : « We liked the original version for its very creative arrangements, its complex and smart polyrhythmic figures and its weird, sparky, yet unidentified sounds. Basically, we just tried to slow it down a bit and find a different groove to it, with some other orchestrations (a human choir, a classical guitar recorded at a slow speed and then speeded up to make it sound like a harp, an autoharp, a flute sextet…). Arandel only works with lo-fi gear, no midi database or device, the aim being that we record ourselves or make from scratch every single sound we use. It’s a bit more melancholic and spacier now, a haunting version of the great original ‘Easy’, with an almost Christmassy feeling to it« .
